Police Manchester, New Hampshire have arrested a mother and father for Second Degree Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On Wednesday morning officers with the Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department responded to 345 Lake Avenue where Manchester Planning and Community Development employees doing a walkthrough of the property, found a 5-month-old baby and a 1-year-old home unattended.
Manchester Police said the 5-month-old baby was strapped in an infant swinging bed and thr 1-year-old was on the kitchen floor, and that both were unclothed and had visible bruises and marks on their bodies.
Both children were taken to a local hospital for observation. Manchester Police said, “The infant’s injuries were found to be serious, and the child was sent to a Boston Hospital for treatment.”
“Officers noted that the apartment was in disarray, with clothing piled up and various household items and tools mixed in, posing a potential risk of injury to the children,” said Manchester Police. “Numerous household liquids, including cooking oils and cleaning agents, were also on the floor, and a heat lamp was turned on with a cord hanging to the side.”
The children, Manchester Police said, “Had been left alone for more than an hour.”
Megan Bancroft, 18, has been identified by Manchester Police as the mother of both children and Justice Forsythe, 21, has been identified as the father of the infant child.
Bancroft and Forsythe were both arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Bancroft was also charged with Possession of a Prescription Drug.
