Melbourne Central Catholic High’s football program is widely regarded as one of the best in the country, and its head coach, Nate Hooks, is known to be one of the toughest coaches around. His team of football players, led by star player Ric’Darious Farmer, is nothing short of exceptional.
Farmer is a talented football player, not just in Central Florida but across the country. He’s a force to be reckoned with on the field, dominating his opponents whether he’s playing as a wide receiver or a cornerback. His size, skill, and speed make him a formidable player.
With over 40 collegiate offers from across the nation, Farmer was one of the most sought-after high school football players in the country. On national signing day, he made headlines when he reversed his decision to commit to UCF and instead signed with the West Virginia Mountaineers. This move will give him the opportunity to showcase his impressive athleticism and creativity in running routes, even in tightly confined spaces.
During the past season, Farmer caught the attention of many football enthusiasts, including myself who visited four southern high school football programs from Louisiana to Georgia and Florida. Out of all the players I saw, Farmer stood out the most, thanks to his competitiveness and impressive speed. He’s an electrifying athlete with great hands, and he can easily run after catching the ball down the field.
Farmer’s skills aren’t limited to playing as a wide receiver. He’s also an excellent cornerback, having racked up 25 tackles, including 16 solo stops, forced a fumble, and even had an interception he returned 100 yards for a touchdown.
In his senior year, Farmer played nine games as a wide receiver, finishing with 15 carries for 195 yards and three touchdowns, as well as 18 catches for 302 yards and three touchdowns.
Farmer had plenty of collegiate offers, including one from Boston College, which he ultimately decided not to accept.
