The Boston Celtics played in their final regular season game against the Washington Wizards at TD Garden in Boston, MA on Sunday afternoon. The Celtics had rested all of the regular starters in order to preserve their starters for the playoffs as they have long clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
So far, the Celtics came into this matchup 3-0 against the Wizards, and won the last game against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday. The Wizards entered this matchup on a five-game losing streak, as they had a 15-66 record.
Peyton Pritchard made splashes off the bench with a career-high 38 points, this piggybacks on his performance against the Hornets on Friday when he scored 31. Pritchard also added 12 rebounds, and nine assists. Svi Mykhailiuk followed up with a 26 point performance, which tied his career-high, in which he achieve with the Charlotte Hornets last season.
Jordan Walsh made his first career start, playing 17 minutes, while scoring just one point. Neemias Queta scored a career-high of 19 points off the bench, and doubled his career mark in blocks with six, his performance of three blocks was in the win against the Orlando Magic on Dec. 23, 2023. Sam Hauser had 16 and Luke Kornet had 11 as the Celtics would win against the Wizards with the score of 132-122.
This ends the Celtics’s 15th season where they had 60+ wins, as the last time was in 2008 when they would later win the NBA Finals against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Celtics will be facing the No. 8 seed, which will be determined in the Play-In Tournament for Game 1 on Sunday.
