The UConn Huskies men’s basketball team faced off against Purdue in the 2024 NCAA men’s basketball tournament national championship game at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, AZ on Monday night. UConn was looking to become the first repeat champion since Florida won it all in 2006 and 2007.
The first half was a tightly-contested one with the biggest lead for either side being just six points which UConn led in the final minute of the half. They would hold on to a six-point lead at halftime, up 36-30.
The Huskies would hold several nine-point leads through the first five minutes of the second half before they blew the game open. They held a lead as big as 15 and won the game by that same margin, defeating Purdue 75-60.
UConn becomes the first repeat champion in men’s basketball since Florida in 2006 and 2007.
