For 47 years Mancuso’s Restaurant & Bar in Fairfield, Connecticut has been serving some of the best Italian dishes in Connecticut. But owners Sal and Carmen Mancuso recently announced they’re closing the doors one last time on June 9.

On Facebook, Sal and Carmen announced their intention to retire saying, “It is with (a) heavy heart and excitement that we are announcing on June 9th we will be hanging up our aprons and retiring from the business,” the Mancusos wrote. “…Sal and Carmen have seen generations of families come through the restaurant’s doors over the past 47 years.”

Sal Mancuso’s family relocated to America from Italy after an earthquake, according to Mancuso’s website, originally settling in New York but later opening the eatery in Fairfield in 1977. They named it “Three Brothers,” intending to pass the restaurant down to their three children.

Sal’s two brothers eventually left the business, and in the early 2000s, he renamed it Mancuso’s as a tribute to his family.
