By Tiffany Williams –

Police in Auburn, Massachusetts, on Monday arrested an Amazon delivery driver for trafficking cocaine.

Auburn Police says Erick Xavier Perez-Torres was operating an Amazon delivery van at 59 mph in a 40 mph zone in the area of Washington Street and Prospect Street just after 9:00 PM Monday night.

The officer stopped Perez-Torres, who was able to produce a registration but did not have a license on his possession.

A CJIS check on Perez-Torres revealed that he had a suspended license and an active warrant out of Dudley District Court.

Perez-Torres was arrested and transported to the Auburn Police Department for booking.

Before having the Amazon delivery van towed, Auburn Police conducted an inventory of the van and located a satchel with two golf ball sized clear plastic bags containing a white powdery substance. Which was identified through the officers’ training and experience to be suspect cocaine. The officer also recovered a digital scale and packaging material.

During booking Perez-Torres, Auburn Police says had currency folded in different denominations and in different areas on his person.

After the booking process, an Auburn Police Detective, with the assistance of a Spanish speaking Massachusetts State Police Trooper, interviewed Perez-Torres. During that interview, Auburn Police said Perez-Torres admitted to owning the satchel and it’s contents.

Perez-Torres was charged with Trafficking In Cocaine 36 grams or more and less than 100 grams, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and speeding rate of speed exceeding posted limit.

On Tuesday, Perez-Torres was arraigned in Worcester District Court before Judge Steven D. Power, and was ordered committed to Worcester County House of Correction in lieu of having posted bail in the amount of $50,000.00 bond or $5,000.00 cash).
