Boston Bruins Fall to New York Rangers, 5-2

The Boston Bruins played the New York Rangers on Thursday night at TD Garden in Boston, MA. The Boston Bruins entered the game on a three-game winning streak while the Rangers lost their last game against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night.
Both teams entered the contest atop of their respective divisions in the Eastern Conference, while the Bruins lead the Atlantic Division with 97 points, while the Rangers lead the Metropolitan Division with 94 points.
The Rangers had won both of their matchups earlier this season including one in overtime on Dec. 16 when Vincent Trocheck scored the game-winner, which he scored both goals that the Rangers scored in that matchup in the 2-1 matchup.
James Van Riemsdyk wouldl miss his second straight game as he is battling an illness, that has made him miss three out of the last four games.
The Bruins opened the scoring in the first period from a goal from Jake DeBrusk off a rebound from Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick for his 18th goal of the season.
Artemi Panarin tied the game up at one after he shot the put between the legs of Pavel Zacha and slipped past Jeremy Swayman. Panarin also scored a goal when DeBrusk tapped the puck into the Bruins’s own net late in the second period where the Rangers would take the lead.
Justin Brazeau scored his fourth goal of the season which tied the game up at 2 early in the third period, but the Rangers would run away with the game scoring three unanswered goals including two empty-netters from Mika Zibanejad and Panarin, which earned his fourth hat trick of the season.
The Boston Bruins will be playing a Saturday afternoon matchup when they travel to Philadelphia to face the Flyers at 1:00 pm. The game will be broadcast on NESN/NESN360.
