Boston Bruins Defeat Montreal Canadiens in OT

The Boston Bruins faced off against the Montreal Canadiens for a one-game road trip to the Bell Centre in Montreal on Thursday night.

The Bruins got crushed in their last game against the St. Louis Blues by a score of 5-1 on Monday night while the Canadiens shut out the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 on Tuesday night. The Bruins entered this game with 92 points and in second place in the Atlantic division behind the Florida Panthers, while the Canadiens are in second to last place in the division only ahead of the Ottowa Senators.

In the season series, the Bruins are 2-1 against the Canadiens, while the Bruins won two straight matches after losing on Nov. 11 in overtime. The Bruins have a point streak of 12 games against the Canadiens since Nov. 2019.

Trade deadline acquisition Andrew Peeke made his Bruins debut along the third line with rookie Parker Wotherspooon where he logged 17 minutes of ice time.

The Bruins got the scoring going early in the first period with a goal from Danton Heinen, for his 12th goal of the season. In the last matchup against the Habs, Heinen had his first career hat trick with three goals.

Later in the period, the Habs would answer back with a goal from Nick Suzuki scoring his 26th of the season, which ties a career-high.

No scoring would take place until overtime when Jake DeBrusk was set up by Brad Marchand for the game-winning goal 24 seconds into overtime to seal the ninth overtime win by the B’s this season.
