In the wee hours of the morning, Boston firefighters were called to action not once but twice to battle raging flames that engulfed two different structures.

The first call came at around 2:00 a.m. from Ashford Street in the Brighton section of the city. There, firefighters at one point worked through a thick cloud of black smoke that covered the building and filled the neighborhood.

Despite the challenging conditions, the firefighters valiantly fought the three-alarm fire that quickly spread through the building into the attic and walls. As a result, the firefighters had to evacuate the building, and BFD had to fight the fire externally from ladder trucks and a tower unit.

The fire was finally extinguished after two grueling hours, and unfortunately, eight people were displaced, and the damage was estimated at $2mil.

Meanwhile, at Bowdoin Street in Dorchester, a three-family structure was also engulfed in flames, and firefighters worked to keep it from spreading to an adjacent building, but radiant heat did affect close neighbors.

BFD confirmed that one resident was displaced, and one firefighter with minor injuries had to be taken by Boston EMS to an area hospital.

All firefighters were evacuated from the building and used aerial ladders, the tower, and multiple ground ladders to attack the fires.
