By Jose A. Rivera –

Many individuals have reached out to me to inquire about my perspective on the Teofimo Lopez and Jamaine Ortiz fight, as they value my viewpoint. As an impartial observer seated at ringside, I had a clear view of the entire fight and can confidently say that Ortiz displayed an exquisite showcase of boxing technique throughout his performance against the reigning champion, Lopez.

Ortiz’s movement in the ring was exceptional, showcasing superior footwork that allowed him to control the fight without getting hit back or cornered against the ropes. He employed both offensive output and defensive avoidance tactics with precision, making it difficult for Lopez to land significant punches.

On the other hand, Teo continued throwing wildly despite connecting rarely. He appeared to be off-balance throughout the fight and was unable to match Ortiz’s technique. Moreover, his attire, resembling that of a circus leader, was almost prophetic in revealing the deep-rooted issues in boxing governance.

While the number of blows delivered by each fighter favored one over the other, it was Jamaine’s superior footwork and technique that gave him the edge in the fight. Although casual fans may have been swayed by the entertainment-focused broadcast team, anyone familiar with the sweet science aspects of boxing would agree with my assessment.

Overall, it was a remarkable display of skill by Ortiz.

  1. Agree but do you believe in the scoring by all 3 judges? Is this just the usual case that you have to flat out knockout the champion to beat the champion?

  2. Agree w your statement but what are your thoughts on 3 judges scoring? Is this the typical boxing scoring where the champ gets all the neutral, non offensive rounds and that the opponent has to flat out KO the champ to win?

  3. Ortiz was a master on the ring. He made Lopez look like a flailing clown. Hopefully the wrong decision won’t derail Ortiz’ career.
