In the fourth year since its creation, the Worcester Red Sox, along with the help of Diamond Baseball Holdings and president Dr Charles Steinberg, will implement the WooSox Hall of Fame.
In only the beginning of what’s expected to be a rich history, the Worcester Red Sox and Polar Park aim to honor local players, coaches, executives, managers and broadcasters. A selection committee will be composed of WooSox and Red Sox staff as well as past and present media, business owners and community representatives.
Worcester will continue the legacy created by the Pawtucket Red Sox and their established Hall of Fame with its 11 members. Members include such greats as Carlton Fisk, Jim Rice, Fred Lynn, Roger Clemens and Jason Varitek.
Those inducted into the WooSox Hall of Fame will have plaques in Polar Park and the first inductees will be established during the 2024 season at a date to be announced.
“Discussions about people who have enhanced the quality of life in Worcester are positive,” said Dr Steinberg, “we look forward to assembling a selection committee that cares about Worcester, the WooSox and baseball at all levels in Central Massachusetts and New England.”
Worcester looks forward to a continuing history of the four-year-old WooSox organization and the induction into the WooSox Hall of Fame of future Red Sox greats.
