Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas will participate in the USA Women’s Basketball mini camp, along with many other female basketball stars, including Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Kelsey Plum, Britney Griner and reigning WNBA MVP A’Ja Wilson, to name a few. The minicamp will be held at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY from Feb. 2-4.
The US Women’s Basketball Team earned a qualifying spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the goal medal in the 2022 FIBA World Cup. At the conclusion of minicamp, the USA Women’s Basketball Team Committee will choose 12 of the 18 athletes to be named to the roster for the qualifying tournament that will take place Feb. 8-11 in Antwerp, Belgium.
The women will be looking to win their eighth consecutive gold medal in the Paris Olympics, which will be held July 26 – Aug. 11. They will be coached by Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve. Washington Mystics coach Mike Thibault and Los Angeles Sparks head coach Curt Miller will serve as assistant coaches.
