Definitely looking to rebound after breaking a home winning streak with a loss to Denver, the Celtics eagerly traveled to Houston to rectify the situation. Getting back to its winning tendencies one would figure that scoring tandem Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown would have huge games, but Jason Tatum only scored 18 and Jaylen Brown only had 13, yet the Celtics still dominated continuously throughout the game.
This is due to what the best starting six the league has to offer, so when normal high scores Tatum and Brown only had moderate games, it was Derek White, with 21 points and Kristap Porzingis with 32 points, that kept the C’s winning aspirations afloat.
Granted, Jalen Brown did have a double double with 11 rebounds and 10 assists, to go with his 13 points, but this 116-107 win over Houston just goes to show that you can never be too sure where the production is coming from, making the Celtics a dangerous opponent.
Celtics still manage to possess an NBA leading 33-10 record and continue to push towards Championship hopes. Despite a triple double from Alperen Sengun with 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 24 points, along with 25 points from Dillon Brooks, Houston just couldn’t overcome the blistering numbers manufactured by Celtic starters.
“Each night it can be a different guy,” said Porzingis, “we have the trust in each other that we’re willing to sacrifice and let’s get this guy the ball and you know tonight it was my night.” With more rebounds, steals, blocks and assists than Houston, the Celtics continue to dominate opponents.
Celtics continue their Texas tour traveling to Dallas to face the Mavericks Monday at 8:30PM EST while Houston will host Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday at 8:00PM EST.
