Wild Card Weekend: Dallas Cowboys vs Green Bay Packers

The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX on Sunday afternoon in an NFL Wild Card game. The Cowboys had finished the regular season with an undefeated 8-0 record and were also running on a 16-game home win streak.

As for the Packers, they came into the game having won nine of the last 10 games against Dallas and were 5-0 at AT&T Stadium coming in, including a win in Super Bowl XLV in 2011. They were looking to remain undefeated at Jerry’s World and become the first seven seed to win a postseason game.

Green Bay jumped on the Cowboys fast and never let up. They scored on their first drive as running back Aaron Jones scored from three yards out. After Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw an interception on Dallas’ second drive, Jones scored for the second time, this one from a yard out, and the Packers led 14-0 less than a minute into the second quarter.

The dominance would continue in the quarter as a pick-six by Darnell Savage made the Green Bay lead 27-0 with 1:50 left in the half. They would have a lead as big as 32 at the start of the fourth quarter en route to their 48-32 victory.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love finished with 272 yards passing and three touchdowns in the win. Jones, who scored the game’s first two touchdowns, rushed for 118 yards on 21 carries. He finished with three touchdowns.

The home loss for Dallas is their first since the 2022 home opener, in which they lost 19-3 to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dallas also becomes the first team in NFL history to win 12 games in three consecutive seasons and not reach the conference championship game in any of them.

The Packers will now go out to Santa Clara, CA where they will face the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional round. The game will be played Saturday night at Levi’s Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
