The New England Patriots hosted the Washington Commanders at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA on Sunday afternoon. The Patriots were coming off a loss to their AFC East rival Miami Dolphins.
The Commanders got off to a hot start, and a Brian Robinson touchdown made the score 10-0 in favor of the Commanders. A fumble recovered by the Patriots turned the game around for New England, however, as they went on to score two touchdowns on two of their next three plays.
Quarterback Mac Jones found Hunter Henry for a 14-yard touchdown to close the gap to seven. On the second play of the next drive, Rhamondre Stevenson rushed for a 64-yard touchdown to give the Patriots a 14-10 lead.
After a Joey Slye field goal gave Washington a 20-17 lead with 1:49 remaining, the Patriots got down to the Commanders 41 yard line before Jones was intercepted by Jartavuis Martin, sealing the final score of 20-17. The Patriots fell to 2-7 on the year with the loss.
New England will travel to Germany for their next game against the Indianapolis Colts. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET.
