Christian Gonzalez, the 17th overall pick out of Oregon was named Rookie of the Month for September.
The New England Patriots cornerback is the fifth Patriots player to win the award.
Gonzalez joins quarterback Mac Jones (November 2021), defensive end Chandler Jones (September 2012), linebacker Jerod Mayo (October 2008), and wide receiver Deion Branch (September 2002).
Gonzalez started the first three games of the season and had 16 total tackles, one sack, one interception, and three pass defenses.
Gonzalez picked up the sack during his debut versus Philadelphia when he sacked Hurts for an eight yard loss. The interception came in the fourth quarter of week two against Miami.
Gonzalez is the only rookie with a pass defense in each of the first three weeks of the season.
