The New England Revolution now sit in third place in the Eastern Conference with four game to play after defeating Charlotte FC.
Dave Romney scored the game winner in the 85th minute, marking his first MLS goal for the Revolution and his second of the year including a tally in the U.S. Open Cup. Romney finished with a team-high seven clearances. Noel Buck tallied his third goal of the season, the fourth of his MLS career, in his 20th career MLS start.
Mark-Anthony Kaye’s assist on Buck’s goal marked his 25th MLS career assist, his second with New England. Kaye won all nine of his duels to go along with four tackles won and 10 recoveries. DeJuan Jones tallied his fifth assist of the season on Romney’s game winner, marking the third straight season the defender has recorded five or more helpers.
Andrew Farrell logged his 350th start for New England across all competitions, most in team annals. Matt Polster started at left back for the second straight match, his 100th MLS appearance for the club.
Bobby Wood returned to the starting lineup for the first time since July 22, registering two shots in 55 minutes of action. Gustavo Bou made his first MLS appearance for New England since July 15, entering as a second half substitute in the 72nd minute.
Noel Buck opened up the scoring with a goal in the 64th minute. Karol Swiderski tied it up for Charlotte with a goal in the 84th minute before Dave Romney hit the game winner in the 85th minute.
The Revolution will take in the Columbus Crew on October 4.
