YESTERDAY’S NEWS:
The Worcester Red Sox have started July winning seven of their first ten games including Saturday night’s 8-5 win against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Top of the first Saturday night, Wilyer Abreu got Worcester into the game with an RBI single (Stephen Scott) to put Worcester on top 1-0. The biggest play of the night also came at the top of the first with Nick Sogard hitting a grand slam (Bobby Dalbec, Wilyer Abreu and Ronaldo Hernandez) to give Worcester an early 5-0 lead against the Jumbo Shrimp. After two scoreless the Jumbo Shrimp pulled up to this game in the bottom of the third with C.J. Hinojosa hitting his seventh homer of the season to make it a 5-1 ballgame. Top of the eighth, David Hamilton grabbed the sixth run of the night for Worcester, and at the top of the ninth, Narciso Crook hit his seventh homer of the season to get Worcester their seventh and eighth runs of the night. In the bottom of the ninth, the Jumbo Shrimp were not giving up easily as they grabbed four runs to close it out 8-5.
TONIGHT:
The Worcester Red Sox and Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp play the third game of this three-game series tonight at 121 Financial Park with Worcester entering the matchup on a five-game winning streak dating to July 7. Worcester’s last five-game win streak came from June 17-21. Worcester has secured the series win and now seek to earn their first series sweep of the season and their first since they swept a 5-game set at Lehigh Valley to end the 2021 season (September 29 – October 3, 2021).
GRAND SLAM WEEKEND:
On Friday night in game one of three against the Jumbo Shrimp, Enmanuel Valdez hit a grand slam at the top of the third. Nick Sogard at the top of the first Saturday night, hit the second grand slam of the weekend for Worcester. Scoring on Friday was Nick Sogard, David Hamilton and Ceddanne Rafaela. On Saturday night Bobby Dalbec, Wilyer Abreu and Ronaldo Hernandez.
STARTING THINGS OFF:
24-year-old Shane Drohan will make his fifth start for Worcester Sunday.

STAYIN’ ON THE ROAD:
Tuesday night, the Worcester Red Sox will continue their second road stretch of the season, kicking off a six-game set with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. After nine games on the road, the WooSox will then return to Worcester for a six-game homestand against the Rochester Red Wings from July 25-30 before returning to the road for their first trip this season to Syracuse for a six-game series against the Syracuse Mets from August 1-6.
