YESTERDAY’S NEWS:
The Worcester Red Sox defeated the Syracuse Mets, 8-4, in game five of their six-game series Saturday at Polar Park. Van Belle (5.0IP, 3H, 3R/3ER, 1BB, 5K) recorded his first win for the Worcester Red Sox. Wilyer Abreu recorded two of Worcester’s eight runs with a homer in the bottom of the sixth and another homer in the bottom of the eighth. Hamilton, Rafaela, Valdez, Dalbec, Sogard, and Scott each recorded one run to contribute to Worcester’s win.
TODAY:
The Worcester Red Sox will complete their six-game homestand today with their final game of a six-game set with the Syracuse Mets (4-2 thus far). Worcester has won nine of their 13 completed series this season. Worcester is seeking to get a win today to improve to 7-2 against Syracuse for the season.

DOWN ON THE FARM:
With a 4-2 win Saturday against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Portland Sea Dogs have now won their last three consecutive. They have won six of their last eight, and have won their six-game set with the Rumble Ponies. The Sea Dogs are now 10-3 against the Rumble Ponies this season. The two teams will meet again August 15-20, for their final six-game set of the season.
THIS HOMESTAND:
This homestand will end with Fallon Health Sunday Funday, when Future Starters take the field with the WooSox. Sunday is also Millbury Town Takeover; and don’t forget, Kids Run the Bases.
