The Connecticut Sun traveled on the road to face the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday afternoon.
These two teams have met twice so far this season splitting the two games while also having the first and second best records in the league.
The Aces came into Saturday at 14-1 with the one loss coming to Connecticut in their last meeting.
The Sun meanwhile before Saturday’s game had a record 12-4.
That last meeting between the two teams saw DeWanna Bonner score a career high 41 points this time around before their matchup Bonner was announced as an All Star Reserve.
Alyssa Thomas joined Bonner as an All-Star Reserve and Coach Stephanie White was named one of the two coaches.
Bonner finished the night with 19 points and 2 rebounds.
Thomas meanwhile had 12 points, 11 assists, and 5 rebounds.
Coach White commented on her, Bonner and Thomas being able to return to Vegas in two weeks.
“It’s a testament to the good basketball we are playing.” Said White.
For Las Vegas Kelsey Plum was named a All-Star reserve as well and Coach Becky Hammond was named the other All-Star coach.
Plum had 10 points after the first quarter along with All-Star Captain A’ja Wilson who had 10 points. Vegas led 30-22 holding an eight point lead.
Plum ended the game with 25 points.
Wilson had 23 points and 13 rebounds to go along with Plum’s 25.
Vegas extended their lead from eight to eleven going into halftime up 59-48. Candace Parker during the second quarter hit the Aces first three pointer for Las Vegas.
Parker was the Aces third highest scorer with 15 points and 8 assists.
Coming out of the half the Sun fell further behind from eleven to twenty one. The Aces by the end of the third quarter led 84-63. Tiffany Hayes was also ejected during the third quarter.
Hayes before leaving the contest had 8 points.
Las Vegas went on to win 102-84 and improved to a record of 15-1. Connecticut meanwhile receives back to back loses and has a record of 12-5.
Connecticut despite the loss still holds the second best record in the league and the top record in the eastern conference.
The Sun return to action on Thursday back at home against the Seattle Storm with the game scheduled for 7:00 PM EST.
