WooSox Fall to Lehigh Valley Ironpigs 7-6

The Worcester Red Sox and Lehigh Valley Ironpigs met for the fourth time this week last night at Polar Park in Worcester, MA. The Ironpigs took the third game of the series Thursday night, snapping the WooSox’s five-game win streak.

Lehigh scored first four runs of the game in the top of the third before Worcester came back with three of their own to close the gap to a one-score game. As they did last night, Lehigh Valley once again broke the game open with two more runs in the fifth and another in the sixth, extending their lead to 7-3.

The Red Sox added some runs in the eighth to make it a 7-6 game headed into the bottom of the ninth, but Lehigh Valley was able to hold on for the one-point win. Worcester’s five-game win streak has now turned into a two-game losing streak.

They’ll look to begin a new win streak tonight as the two teams meet for the second-to-last game of the series. The first pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. ET.
