The Worcester Red Sox hosted the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs in the third game of the six-game series at Polar Park in Worcester, MA on Thursday night. Worcester won the opening game of the series 7-5 on Tuesday and shut the Ironpigs out 5-0 on Wednesday.
After both teams went scoreless through the first two innings, they each scored a pair of runs in the third. Worcester took the lead in the bottom of the fifth as Niko Goodrum doubled to right field, allowing Marcus Wilson to score.
Jake Cave tied the game for the Ironpigs off a Darick Hall double in the sixth inning. They’d take the lead back in the seventh on a two-run homer from Esteban Quiroz and never looked back. They’d add on two more in the inning, leading to a 7-3 victory.
The loss snaps the WooSox’s five-game winning streak. They will look to bounce back in the fourth game of the series tomorrow night at Polar Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. ET.
