The Red Sox Thursday morning announced that Alex Verdugo has been placed on the bereavement list.

In other moves, the Sox have placed catcher Reese McGuire on the 10-day injured list due to a right oblique strain.

With McGuire out, catcher Caleb Hamilton will get the nod and move from Worcester to the active Major League roster. Hamilton will wear number 77.

Left-handed pitcher Brandon Walter, who was not at Polar Park in Worcester on Wednesday, is in Minnesota. The Sox said he been recalled from Triple-A Worcester and will wear number 75.

Yu Chang, the Sox confirmed, has been transferred to the 60-Day Injured List.

After the midmorning announcement about roster moves, the Sox announced just after 1 PM that “The Boston Red Sox today acquired right-handed pitcher Tayler Scott from the Los Angeles Dodgers, in exchange for cash considerations.”

To make room for Scott on the 40-man roster, the Sox said “the club transferred right-handed pitcher John Schreiber to the 60-Day Injured List.”
