The Connecticut Sun went on the road against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday afternoon. The Sun picked up the win against Atlanta 89-77 to improve to a record of 8-2.
Connecticut holds the second best record in the league behind the Las Vegas Aces who are 8-1. The Sun gave the Aces their one and only loss this past Thursday.
Brionna Jones led the way for the Sun scoring 18 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
Alyssa Thomas was the second highest scorer for the Sun with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Thomas almost completed the triple double but came two assists shy only having eight on the day.
DeWanna Bonner coming off of a career night on Thursday with 41 points scored 15 points.
Tiffany Hayes, who was playing against her former team of 10 years, would be in foul trouble most of the game. With five fouls, Hayes scored two points in 11 minutes of play.
Tyasha Harris and Dijonai Carrington would see more minutes with Hayes in foul trouble. Harris and Carrington each scored their season highs with 15 points for Harris and 12 points for Carrington.
For Atlanta, Cheyenne Parker led the Dream in scoring with 20 points grabbing 14 rebounds, as well. Allisha Gray was second in scoring behind Parker with 18 points.
Last year’s Rookie of the Year Rhyne Howard was the third highest scorer for Atlanta with 16 points adding eight rebounds and two assists to her performance.
Coach Stephanie White postgame said “it wasn’t pretty but a win is a win.”
The Sun will travel back to Connecticut and face the Dream again at home on Thursday.
