The Connecticut Sun faced the Las Vegas Aces for the second time this week as part of a two game championship rematch series.
The Aces took the first game handing Connecticut their second loss of the season 90-84.
The Sun would come out swinging trying to avenge their Tuesday loss. DeWanna Bonner would score 14 points in the first quarter as the Sun went up 26-15.
After nearly outscoring the Aces in the first quarter Bonner would have 18 points at halftime as Connecticut would extend their lead going up 43-28.
The Sun would get their championship revenge holding on to the lead winning 94-77.
The Second Half would be more Bonner as the 14 year veteran would score 23 points in the second half.
Bonner would end the night with 41 points setting a career high and a franchise record. Bonner would grab 7 rebounds to go along with the career scoring performance.
The former Sixth Woman of the Year Brionna Jones would give scoring support with 12 points while also snatching 9 rebounds.
Alyssa Thomas would also have a near triple double with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists.
Tiffany Hayes would be the Sun’s third highest scorer with 11 points.
Las Vegas Aces were handed their first loss of the season after starting 7-0.
Kelsey Plum would lead the Aces in scoring with 16 points. Plum would also have 2 rebounds and 3 assists in the loss.
Two time MVP A’ja Wilson would have 4 assists and 2 rebounds to go along with 13 points.
Jackie Young who is the team’s leading scorer and a top 5 scorer across the league would score 10 points. Those 10 points were Young’s lowest scoring output this season.
The Aces still hold the league’s best record at 7-1 despite the loss tonight.
The Sun have the second best record now at 7-2 putting them a half game behind the Aces.
Both teams return to action Sunday with the Aces playing at home against the Chicago Sky.
The Sun meanwhile head on the road to take on the Atlanta Dream with tip off scheduled for 4:00 PM EST
