Boston Sports On Friday Night

By DJ Harding –

The Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins would be in action on Friday Night with two of the three teams picking up a win.

The Boston Red Sox would pick up their second straight win and defeat the Milwaukee Brewers in their series opener which snapped the Brewers 4 game win streak.

Nick Pevetta would pick up his first win of the season. Pitching for five and two thirds innings allowing seven hits and three rune. Pivetta would also strike out seven batters while Kenley Jansen would get his fifth save of the season.

Alex Verdugo would lead the way hitting a two run homer in the top of the third as the Red Sox improved to 11-10 which is fifth in the AL but only one and a half games back of the wild card.

The Boston Bruins after breaking the record for most wins and points in a season in NHL history would split the first two games of this seven game series with the Florida Panthers.

With a four to two win over the Panthers, the Bruins take a 2-1 series lead. With the four goals being scored by Taylor Hall, Charlie Coyle, David Pastrnak, and Nick Foligno. The Goalie Linus Ullmark would have 29 saves with only 2 goals allowed.

The Celtics would be the only Boston team to lose on the night as the Atlanta Hawks would avoid going down three games and make the series 2-1.

Atlanta received 32 points from Trea Young and 25 points from Dejounte Murray while also getting huge bench performances from Saddiq Bey and Bogdan Bogdanovic who each scored 15 points.

Boston would hit 21 threes which unfortunately wouldn’t be enough in the 130-122 loss.

The Celtics top scorers would be Jayson Tatum with 29, Marcus Smart with 24, and Malcolm Brogdon with 17 points.

The Red Sox will return to action on Saturday versus the Brewers in game two of their three game series. The Bruins and Celtics will face the Panthers and Hawks again on Sunday in game four of their respective series as both teams look to take a 3-1 lead on their opponent.
