Wednesday afternoon ahead of Wednesday night’s meeting with the Minnesota Twins, the Red Sox confirmed all the social media buzz around Enmanuel Valdez being called up from Triple-A Worcester.

In a statement late Wednesday afternoon Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement that “The Boston Red Sox today placed infielder Yu Chang on the Paternity List. To fill Chang’s spot on the active Major League roster, the club recalled infielder/outfielder Enmanuel Valdez from Triple-A Worcester. Valdez will wear number 47.”

Valdez, 24, has had 39 plate appearances to start the season with Triple-A Worcester wit seven hits and three runs. He’s hit three doubles and had six RBI.

In his minor league career, he has appeared at every defensive position other than center field and pitcher.
