Saturday night the New England Revolution will be on the road for their 80th regular season meeting with the Columbus Crew.
New England is coming into this match a week after a 4-0 shutout win over CF Montreal, and they are in second place.
New England is off to its best seven-game start since 2005.
But Columbus is the league’s highest-scoring team through seven weeks and they’re off to a perfect 3-0-0 start at home to open the 2023 campaign.
The Crew carry a three-game winning streak outscoring opponents 12-1 during that span.
Revolution Sporting Director & Head Coach Bruce Arena on Thursday was asked about what to expect from Columbus on Saturday, Arena said, “Columbus is one of the better teams in MLS in this early part of the season. They’ve had incredible success in the attacking end of the field and from a combination of players. There’s not one player you can point to. Obviously, [Lucas] Zelarayán is an outstanding player. [Darlington] Nagbe in the midfield is excellent and so in my opinion, those are two of the top players in their positions in the league, so they’ll be very challenging, but they have a great home venue in Columbus and the game will be challenging. They’ve been very good, especially at home they’ve been outstanding, so it’s going to be a real difficult game.”
Saturday’s match is at 7:30 PM and can be heard on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub, with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action.
