Worcester Red Sox Looking For A Win Friday Night With James Paxton

By Tiffany Williams –

The Worcester Red Sox, who have now lost five straight, will host the Columbus Clippers for game four of their six-game series Friday night with first pitch at Polar Park in the Canal District scheduled for 6:45PM.

Veteran James Paxton will be the starter for the WooSox Friday night. Paxton, who has 57 career Major League victories, will attempt to get his first win in a Red Sox uniform, but more importantly his focus Friday night will be to get Worcester back in the win column. Paxton made his WooSox debut on Easter Sunday in Buffalo going three innings allowing two hits, no runs, two walks and three strikeouts throwing 58 pitches (34 for strikes).  Worcester lost that game, 2-1 and it was their second loss since 4/9.

In their first eleven games of the season, the Worcester Red Sox have 61 runs, 89 hits, 12 homers, 55 RBI and their OBP is .359.

Worcester’s bullpen has allowed 110 hits, 69 runs (13 homers), and struck out 81 in their first eleven games of the season.

The Columbus Clippers have dominated this series with 10-3, 10-5, and 16-1 wins.

Friday night the Worcester Red Sox will play as Los Wepas. The Los Wepas de Worcester game is presented by La Mega Radio, and pre-game ceremonies will celebrate the cultures of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
