Before kicking off the 2023 season on Thursday at Fenway Park, Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom announced that outfielder Raimel Tapia was selected to the active Major League roster from Triple-A Worcester.
The Sox opening day roster include thirteen pitchers (Richard Bleier, Ryan Brasier, Kutter Crawford, Tanner Houck, Kenley Jansen, Zack Kelly, Corey Kluber, Chris Martin, Kaleb Ort, Nick Pivetta, Chris Sale, John Schreiber, Josh Winckowski), two catchers (Reese McGuire, Connor Wong), six infielders (Christian Arroyo, Triston Casas, Yu Chang, Rafael Devers, Kiké Hernández, Justin Turner), and five outfielders (Adam Duvall, Rob Refsnyder, Raimel Tapia, Alex Verdugo, Masataka Yoshida).
Brayan Bello, Wyatt Mills, James Paxton, Joely Rodriguez, and Garrett Whitlock are on the 15-day IL.
Adalberto Mondesi and Trevor Story are both on the 60-day IL.
