In downtown Worcester Saturday night, the Professional Bull Riders Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour was at the DCU Center for Worcester Rumble.
In front of a sold-out crowd, Brandon McDowell of Hopwood, Pennsylvania reached a crucial career milestone, winning his career-first event with the PBR.
In the opening round, McDowell was tasked with Crazed Addiction from Cornwell Bucking Bulls and reached the whistle for an event-best 84 points. McDowell finished the night earning 108 Velocity Global points as he chased his career-first berth to the Velocity Tour Finals this May in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Cody McCandless of Dairy, Pennsylvania, and Vitor Losnake of Bauru, Brazil, tied for second, each netting 60.5 Velocity Global points. The duo of riders recorded matching 83-point rides in Round 1.
Bryan Titman of East Bernard, Texas, parlayed a 61.5-point ride atop Baldy into a fourth-place result, collecting 29 Velocity Global points.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Eduardo Oliveira of Nova Lacereda, Brazil. He was the only other rider to deliver a score, riding Recall for 53 points in the opening round, and earning 24 Velocity Global points in the process.
The PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour now heads to Knoxville, Tennessee, at Thompson-Boling Arena on Saturday, March 4.
The PBR Knoxville Invitational gets underway at 7 p.m. EST.
