On Friday the Red Sox kicked off Spring Training play grabbing a 5-3 win against the Northeastern University Huskies.
The Red Sox got five over the plate in the bottom of the first. Jarren Duran, Rafael Devers and Enrique Hernandez were the first three to score, and then Emmanuel Valdez hit a double to drive in Alex Verdugo and Jorge Alfaro.
After three scoreless innings, Northeastern got Spencer Smith and Mike Sirota over the plate at the top of the fourth. At the top of the fifth Harrison Feinberg made over the plate.
Today’s meeting between the Sox and the Huskies was their 19th meeting since 2004.
Today’s exhibition game was the first of 34 exhibition games in 33 days that the Sox will play. They will also play a game against Puerto Rico on March 8th, and 32 Grapefruit League games.
