Boston Celtics Best Los Angeles Lakers in Overtime, 135-131

The Boston Celtics hosted Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in a classic rivalry game at TD Garden in Boston on Saturday night as part of the NBA’s Rivalry Week. These two teams have met 12 times in the NBA Finals, with the winning the most recent meeting in 2010.

In 2023, Boston came into this game with the best record in the league at 35-15, just half a game over the West-leading Denver Nuggets. Los Angeles was on the outside looking in as the 13th seed in the Western Conference.

Jaylen Brown scored 37 points, 10 points in overtime, and tied the game with a three with 4.1 seconds left to force overtime as the Celtics went on to snap their two-game skid with a 135-131 win.

Jayson Tatum also scored 30 points, shooting 8 of 25 from the field and 3 for 10 from three. He added 11 rebounds. Malcolm Brogdon scored 26 points off the bench on 8 of 15 shooting, including 3 of 7 from three.

Lebron James led the way in the game with 41 points in 44 minutes, shooting 50 percent from the floor [15-30] and from three [6-12]. Anthony Davis added 16 points off the bench, shooting 6 of 15 from the floor, and added 10 rebounds.

Boston will host the Brooklyn Nets on Feb. 1 while the Lakers will head to New York for a doubleheader against the Nets and Knicks on Monday and Tuesday.
