Olger Escobar Called Up To Under-17 Guatemalan National Team

By Tiffany Williams –

On Wednesday New England Revolution Academy announced forward Olger Escobar has been called up to the Under-17 Guatemalan National Team ahead of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying matches in February

Escobar, 16, of Lynn, Mass will play against Mexico, Panama, and Curaçao. He has led the Under-17 Academy team with seven goals this past fall, including a scissor kick game-winner in his team’s 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps at MLS NEXT Fest.

“It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to represent where my parents come from, where I’m from,” Escobar said. “It’ll be a great experience and I’ll learn a lot from it. The Revolution Academy has done an incredible job preparing me for this opportunity and I’m excited to represent them and Guatemala, while playing against some of the best players in the world.”

This is Escobar’s fourth call-up with the Guatemalan National Team after most recently joining the U-17s in August 2022.
