On Monday at the Worcester County, Massachusetts Court House a grand jury indicted Keith Jones, 32, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
Jones is charged with one count of murder, two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, two counts of assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm not at home or work, and possession of a loaded firearm not at home or work.
Just after 7:00 p.m. on July 16, 2022 Worcester Police responded to a Cambridge Street address for a report of a shooting. Responding officers found 41-year-old Felicia Obeng with gunshot wounds. She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A second victim, who was also shot, was a 63-year-old woman. She was taken to an area hospital where she was treated for a non-fatal gunshot wound.
The Worcester County District Attorney’s office said “Worcester Police detectives were able to determine through an extensive investigation that Jones rented a vehicle and drove to Cambridge Street with a loaded firearm. Jones is accused of firing multiple rounds at a group of people resulting in Obeng’s death. Jones is not licensed to carry a firearm in Massachusetts.”
Jones, has been in custody at the Worcester County Jail since his arrest and initial appearance in Worcester District Court in August. and remains held without bail.
An indictment by a grand jury moves the case to Worcester Superior Court, and is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
