It is a busy weekend in downtown Manhattan as College Football has its annual Heisman Trophy weekend. On Saturday, USC QB Caleb Williams is the betting odds favorite to take home the hardware. But all eyes are at Madison Square Garden on this night as “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez is set to fight his second bout at 140 pounds since going up in weight this past August when he beat an overmatched Pedro Campa.
Teo is looking to be the ruler in the division as he did before going up in weight but first he has to get past the ex-european champion from Spain, Sandor Martin.
At the weigh-ins on Friday Teofimo came in at 139.2 lbs where Martin came in at 139.8 lbs for their 140 pound main event for this Saturday night.
On an unusual night where The Bruce Carrington fight vs. The Juan Tapia bout was canceled because Tapia was not cleared by the New York State Athletic Commision and The Jahi Tucker vs. The Ivan Pandzic fight was called off after Tucker missed weight; the rest of the Top Rank event will go as scheduled with the contracted fighters making their weights.
