On Wednesday afternoon, after a depressing 16-0 loss on Tuesday the Worcester Red had their second meeting with the Durham Bulls (Triple-A, Tampa Bay Rays). After three scoreless innings, Enmanuel Valdez at the bottom of the fourth hit his first Polar Park dinger. Valdez was just recently traded into the Red Sox organization Monday as part of the Christian Vázquez trade to the Houston Astros from the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox received in return two minor leaguers, infielder Enmanuel Valdez and outfielder Wilyer Abreu. Valdez just arrived in Worcester on Wednesday for this midday game.
After five scoreless innings, Grant Witherspoon hit his fifth homer of the season for Durham to make this a 1-1 game.
After a scoreless seventh, Grant Witherspoon hit his second dinger of the game, his sixth for the season to put Durham on top 2-1. That was the third homer given up by Bazardo this season. A wild pitch by Bazardo helped to drive in David Rodriguez to put Durham on top 3-1.

With Wednesday expected to be in the 80’s, Thursday expected to be as high as 97, Friday expected to be 94, Saturday expected to be 88 and Sunday expected to be 90 the Worcester Red Sox have implemented some changes around the ballpark for folks to beat the heat. The team has added several mobile misting fans. These fans have become fan favorites since they were introduced in July. The Worcester Red Sox has increased the number of fans to eight, with misting zones added on the Hanover Deck overlooking left field and in each dugout.
