Worcester Police are investigating a fatal car crash that happened around 9:30 PM, Saturday night. Worcester Police said they were in the area when officers “observed a stolen white SUV driving North on Main St at a very high rate of speed. An officer activated his blue lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, but backed off the pursuit when the vehicle refused to stop and began operating more erratically.”
At 9:52 PM, Worcester Police responded to the area of Main St and Chandler St. for a reported crash. Upon arrival officers located a chaotic scene with a three vehicle accident and several seriously injured victims on the ground.
Worcester Police Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to investigate and their preliminary investigation revealed that a white SUV was traveling northbound on Main St. A Honda Accord and Chevy Impala were stopped at a red light on Chandler St traveling eastbound. The light turned to green, and the Honda and Chevy were side by side as they continued east on Chandler St. The white SUV, which did not have headlights on, went through the red light on Main St, struck the other vehicles, and pushed them into a street light pole.
A female found in the passenger’s seat was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics. The four surviving occupants of the white SUV have serious injuries and are being treated at the hospital. Although identifications are still being made, it appears that everyone in the white SUV was eighteen-years-old or younger. No one in the Honda or Chevy was seriously injured.
