Jeter Downs, who has been knocking on Boston’s door, has gotten the call up from Triple-A Worcester to the Major League Club, Boston Red Sox.
Downs was a key part of the trade which sent Mookie Betts to the Dodgers prior to the 2020 season. He’s homered 25 times and stole 29 bases in 152 games since the start of last year, and where he might be lacking on the offensive side of the game, Downs picks up for on the defensive side of the game.
While some folks may not think Downs getting called up is a good idea or a bit of a backslide for the Red Sox, I hold a little more confidence that Downs could become a regular major leaguer.
