After losing Wednesday night 2-5 and Thursday night 4-10 against the Toledo Mud Hens, the Worcester Red Sox had their fourth meeting of this six-game set with the Mud Hens Friday night and the Hens claimed a 10-4 win.
At the bottom of the second Yolmer Sanchez opened this contest up with his eighth homer of the season to drive in Jaylin Davis for Worcester to take an early 0-1 lead. But after three innings the Mud Hens got into this contest at the top of the fourth with both Derek Hill and Jeimer Candelario hitting homers to make it a 2-1 game. The scoring parade continued for the Mud Hens at the top of the fourth with Trayce Thompson, Zack Short and Derek Hill scoring to put the Mud Hens on top 6-1. At the bottom of the sixth Roberto Ramos made this a 6-2 contest with a dinger 448 feet to center field to drive in Christin Stewart. In the bottom of the seventh Jacob Robson hit a single to drive in Akil Baddoo to put the Mud Hens on top 7-3. At the top of the eighth Yolmer Sanchez hit his tenth double of the season to make this a 10-4 Mud Hens win.
Prior to the game Friday, following batting practice, Toledo OF Riley Greene, the #2 prospect in Minor League Baseball was called up to Detroit. Toledo lead-off hitter Derek Hill moved from right field to center field and Jacob Robson was moved into Greene’s spot as the #2 hitter and played right field.
Worcester and Toledo will meet again Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 PM, and Saturday is Oxford Town Takeover Day. Saturday will also be the first Bark in the Park of the season, featuring a pre-game doggy parade around the warning track.
