On Monday, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu will take part in a Memorial Day service at the World War II Memorial in the Back Bay Fens.
The Mayor’s office say’s “The one hour remembrance will feature historic narratives and provide an opportunity for reflection and introspection as we remember the sacrifice our heroes and their families have made to our country.”
The memorial in the Fens honors all Boston’s veterans who served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
This is the first time in eight years that Veterans’ Services has hosted a ceremony at the Memorial and as part of the ceremony, Commissioner Rob Santiago and Mayor Wu will lay a wreath at each memorial and light a candle of peace.
