Just before 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Worcester Police responded to the Alhuda Academy at 248 East Mountain St for a report of a bomb threat.
Worcester Police said the area around the Alhuda Academy was evacuated however after “A detailed search of the interior and exterior of the building” nothing suspicious was found and the Alhuda Academy was allowed to reopen around 3:30 p.m.
Worcester Police confirmed the call came from one phone number but said “The source of the calls is under investigation and has been referred to the Joint Terrorism Task Force.”
The bomb threat Thursday was just a little over a month after an attack on a Shiite Muslim mosque in Peshawar that killed at least 56 people. It is also Ramadan, for Muslims worldwide a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.
