After winning their season opener on Monday night, the Worcester Red Sox were back in action Tuesday night at 121 Financial Ballpark in downtown Jacksonville, FL for game two of their six game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
In the bottom of the second inning, JJ Bleday scored to get the Jumbo Shrimp on the board and make it a 0-1 Jumbo Shrimp lead. At the top of the third inning, Yolmer Sanchez hit his first homer of the season to make it a 1-1 tie game but in the bottom of the third the Jumbo Shrimp took the lead with both Bryson Brigman and Lewin Diaz scoring to make it a 1-3 Jumbo shrimp lead. At the top of the fourth Rob Refsnyder scored to make it a 2-3 Jumbo Shrimp lead and then in the bottom of the 5th Peyton Burdick hit his first homer of the season to make it a 2-4 Jumbo Shrimp lead. At the top of the 6th inning the Worcester Red Sox had a pair of homers with Triston Casas and Franchy Cordero to make it a tie game 5-5. In the bottom of the 6th inning the Jumbo Shrimp pulled away from the 5-5 tie with Charles Leblanc hitting a homer to make it a 5-6 Jumbo Shrimp lead. At the top of the seventh the WooSox pulled it away from the Jumbo Shrimp with a pair of runs (Jeter Downs and Rob Refsnyder) to make it a 7-6 WooSox lead. The 8th and 9th innings were both scoreless.
Starting on the mound For the Worcester Red Sox Tuesday night was New England native Thomas Pannone, of Rhode Island. Pannone was on the mound 4.2 innings allowing eight hits, five runs and had four strikeouts.
