On The Ice – Railers Stun Mariners, Bruins Get A Win In Columbus And Assumption Claims Third Win Against Post

On the ice in downtown Worcester Saturday night, it was “WooSox Night” as the Worcester Railers hosted the Maine Mariners. In the second period Jacob Hayhurst had a goal assisted by Jordan Smotherman and Anthony Repaci. Mike Cornell had a goal assisted by Liam Coughlin and Liam Coughlin had a goal assisted by John Furgele and Nolan Vesey. At the end of the second period it was 0-3 Railers lead. In the third period, the Mariners were down by three but they found the goal with Patrick Shea, Keltie Jeri-Leon and Nick Jermain. At the end of the third period this was a 3-3 tie game going into OT where Nick Master assisted by Zach Malatesta and Keltie Jeri-Leon found the goal to stun the Railers with a 4-3 win. 

On the ice in Columbus, OH Saturday night, the Bruins claimed a 5-4 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Saturday night was the second win on the road this week for the Bruins after winning Thursday night 5-2 in a matchup with the Vegas Golden Knights. In Columbus, in the first period Jake DeBrusk found the goal for the Bruins with the assist by Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy. The Blue Jackets were not gonna let the Bruins be the better team in the first period and with Gustav Nyquist and Vladislav Gavrikov they wrapped up the first period with a 1-2 lead. In the second period the Bruins found the goal with Erik Haula but the Blue Jackets wrapped up the second period with a 2-3 lead after Zach Werenski made a goal with the assist by Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jakub Voracek. In the third period the Bruins tied up this game with a goal by Craig Smith and sealing the game winning shot for the Bruins was Patrice Bergeron. The Blue Jackets weren’t ending this game quietly and got a goal with Jakub Voracek. 

Back in Worcester, on the ice at Assumption the Greyhounds claimed a 3-4 win against Post University. This was the third time this season that Assumption and Post have met and the third time that the Greyhounds came up with the W against Post. On Jan 28, the Greyhounds claimed a 3-2 win and on Jan 31, the Greyhounds claimed a 6-3 win.
