Los Angeles Rams Win Super Bowl LVI 23-20 Against Bengals

On Sunday night the Los Angeles Rams won their first Super Bowl since 1999, with a 23-20 win against the Bengals.

In the first quarter with 6:22 on the clock, Matthew Stafford connected with Odell Beckham Jr. To get the first touchdown of the game and the kick after attempt was good. With just 28 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Evan McPherson made a 29 yard field goal. At the end of the first quarter it was 7-3 Rams lead.

In the second quarter with 12:51 on the clock,  Matthew Stafford connected with Cooper Kupp to get the second touchdown of the game for the Rams and the first touchdown of the game for Kupp. The two-point pass conversion failed. With 5:47 left on the clock in the second quarter, Joe Mixon connected with Tee Higgins to get a touchdown and the point after attempt was good. At the end of the second quarter it was a 13-10 Rams lead.

In the third quarter the Bengals took the lead of this game, with 14:48 on the clock, Burrow connected with Higgins to get a touchdown and the point after attempt was good. With 10:15 on the clock McPherson made a 38 yard field goal and then with 5:58 on the clock, Gay made a 41 yard field goal. At the end of the third quarter it was a 16-20 Bengals lead.

In the fourth quarter, as most people including Rams fans were set on the Bengals winning this game, the Rams rallied late with 15 plays before Stafford connected with Kupp with just 1:25 remaining on the clock to get a touchdown. The point after attempt by Gay was good.

With 43 seconds remaining on the clock, it was fourth and one at the Rams 49 in the fourth quarter, the Bengals had possession and as Burrow scanned his options down field and he was able to fire off an incomplete pass short right as Aaron Donald took him down. Donald who had four tackles and two sacks, is proof that defense does win championships.

Odell Beckham Jr. following tonight’s win tweeted, “This was exactly God’s plan.” With 3:50 on the clock in the second quarter Beckham was running toward the right side of the field on a crossing route but his left foot got caught in the turf. Beckham fell to the ground holding his left leg. Athletic Trainers checked Beckham out on the field before he eventually got up and walked off to the medical tent and then he left the game. The Rams listed Beckham questionable before downgrading him to out. Beckham did return to the game on the sideline to support his fellow Rams. Beckham, who had two receptions for 52 yards and scored the first touchdown of the game said that he’ll know more later about the extent of his injury.
