The Worcester Red Sox announced on Thursday that Josh Maurer who was the lead radio and TV broadcaster for the Worcester Red Sox during their inaugural season in 2021, will join the Milwaukee Brewers radio team in 2022.
Maurer was hired by the PawSox in February of 2014 and spent eight seasons as play-by-play broadcaster for the olub.
Maurer made his Major League debut with the Boston Red Sox in July of 2015 when he did play-by-play on NESN for seven Red Sox games during their West Coast trip. In September of 2021 he filled-in for a pair of Philadelphia Phillies games doing play-by-play on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
In a statement released by the Worcester Red Sox, Maurer said “Aside from the thrill of calling games at storied McCoy Stadium and then at beautiful Polar Park, this job has been so gratifying because of the great people I have been fortunate enough to work with. I will always cherish the relationships with all of my broadcast partners, as well as the players, coaches and front office members – each of whom helped make my time in the Red Sox organization so memorable.”
Maurer also thanked Mike Tamburro and Bill Wanless he said “for the faith they showed in my abilities by first bringing me into the venerable PawSox booth; and Larry Lucchino, Charles Steinberg and Dan Rea of the WooSox for their constant support of my career and of our broadcast product.”
