Red Sox Beat Tampa 5-6 With A Walk-Off Win To Advance To American League Championship Series

After a walk-off win in ALDS game three against the Tampa Bay Rays in extra innings Sunday night, the Boston Red Sox were looking to close this series Monday night and put Tampa in their rear view mirror. 

Danny Santana, the kid who played this summer with the Worcester Red Sox and got called up, in the bottom of the 9th got the walk off win to get the Red Sox the win they needed to win the American League Division Series. The Red Sox will now move on to the American League Championship Series.

After two scoreless innings the Red Sox came alive in the bottom of the 3rd first with Devers hitting a homer off a 97 mph four-seam fastball 404 feet to center and getting two RBI (Vázquez and Schwarber). Verdugo then hit a  double to left off a 96 mph four-seam fastball and Bogaerts scored. That was followed up with Martinez hitting an 87 mph slider to left center to get a single and getting an RBI (Verdugo). The third inning ended with the Red Sox leading 0-5.

At the top of the 5th, Austin Meadows hit a 93 mph sinker and grounded out but that drove in Jordan Luplow to make it a 1-5 Red Sox Lead.

At the top of the 6th, Wander Franco hit a homer off a 97 mph four-seam fastball and got an RBI (Kevin Kiemaier) to make it a 3-5 Red Sox lead.

Eduardo Rodriguez started for the Red Sox Monday night and went 5 innings, allowed 3hit, 2 runs and had 6 strikeouts.Rodriguez was relieved by Tanner Houck 

At the top of the 8th, Tampa tied this game up with both Mike Zunino and Kevin Kiemaier scoring to make it a 5-5 game.

In the bottom of the 9th, Hernández hits a sac fly to left and Santana scored to make it a 5-6 Red Sox game.
