A Sunday Funday With Patriots And Red Sox Wins

Going into week five against the Texans, the Patriots needed a win and they got it. The Patriots grabbed a 25-22 win and that came by Nick Folk making a 21 yard field goal.

In the first quarter, Texans Antony Auclair caught an 11 yard pass from Davis Mills to make a touchdown after 18 plays and 79 yards. The first quarter ended with Texans leading 0-6.

In the second quarter, after 10 plays and 60 yards, Damien Harris had a 1 yard run for a touchdown. After 3 plays and 75 yards, Texans Chris Moore caught a 67 yard pass from Davis Mills to get a touchdown. After15 plays and 65 yards, Texans Ka’imi Fairbairn made a 33 yard field goal. To end the second quarter, after 9 plays and 42 yards Nick Folk made a 52 yard field goal. The second quarter ended with the Texans leading 9-15.

In the third quarter, after 2 plays and 44 yards, Texans Chris Conley caught a 37 yard pass from Davis Mills. After 4 plays and 3 yards, Nick Folk made a 52 yard field goal. Nick Folk also made a 32 yard field goal to end the third quarter 15-22, Texans lead.

The fourth quarter is when the Patriots showed us that in football anything can happen in the final minutes and seconds of a game. Hunter Henry caught a 13 yard pass from Mac Jones to get a touchdown, the kick after by Nick Folk was good and it was a 22-22, tie game. After 15 plays and 84 yards, in the final 15 seconds of the game, Nick Folk made a 21 yard field goal for the Patriots to win this one 25-22. 

For Matthew Slater this week was his 194th regular season game in the NFL. Also, this week the Patriots have now gone 91 straight games scoring in the first half. 

The Patriots are now 2-3 for the season and now with Houston in the Patriots rearview mirror, well they still got Texas ahead of them. Next Sunday the Dallas Cowboys will be at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

At Fenway Sunday, the Red Sox hosted the Tampa Bay Rays for game 3 of the American League Division Series. This was a 1-1 tied series going into Sunday night but the Red Sox made it a 2-1 series with a 4-6 win. 

At the top of the first, Austin Meadows hit his first homer of the season, 406 feet to right field and got an RBI (Wander Franco) to make it a 2-0 Tampa lead. In the bottom of the first, Kyle Schhwarber hit his first homer 390 feet to center field to make it a 2-1 Tampa lead. 

In the Bottom of the third Christian Arroyo and Kyle Schhwarber both scored to make it a 2-3 Boston lead.

In the bottom of the 5th, Enrique Hernandez hit his second homer 424 feet into left field to make it a 2-4 Boston lead.

At the top of the 8th, Wander Franco hit his first homer 364 feet into left field to make it a 3-4 Boston lead. That was followed up with Manuel Margot scoring to make it a 4-4 tie game.

This game went down to extra innings, into the bottom of the 13th inning and Christian Vazquez won this game for the Red Sox with a homer 394 feet and an RBI (Hunter Renfroe to make it a 4-6 Red Sox game.
