Earlier this afternoon officers with the Worcester Police Department arrested Hector Madera, 28 and charged him with Operating after license suspended, Operating MV to endanger, Operating Un-registered MV, Red light violation, One way violation, Leaving the scene of property damage (cross walk signal), Leaving the scene of property damage (wall), Trespassing on railroad property, Resisting arrest, Civil rights violation (2).
In addition to the above charges, Madera also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Madera, was observed in the area of Pleasant at Hawley streets operating a motor vehicle aggressively, passing other motorists and speeding. Later Madera was observed in the area of Summer Street.
When an officer from the Neighborhood Response Team attempted to engage Madera, he fled from this officer and then crashed the vehicle he was operating in the area of Laurel Street and Summer Street.
After exiting the vehicle that he was operating, Madera continued to flee from the officer and the officer pursued him on foot.
Eventually other officers arrived in the area and assisted this officer as he was in foot pursuit of Madera on the train tracks behind the Prime Gas Station on Summer Street.
Eventually Madera was taken into custody, after he continued to resist arrest. Madera also threatened officers and made several racially derogatory remarks to officers present.
