Scranton Beats Worcester 9-1, In Game 3 Of 8 Game Homestand

Back in the Canal District Wednesday night, the Worcester Red Sox and the RailRiders played game three of seven. Tonight was Los Wepas Day and the Worcester Red Sox played this game tonight as Los Wepas which is a Spanish expression of Happiness and joy.

As part of “Los Wepas Day” Mexican and Cuban fans were recognized and Taco Caliente, a local restaurant had some delicious tacos and burritos at the Nacho Nacho Man Stand on the third base line concourse.

Also, recognized at tonight’s game was the Latin American Health Alliance, its founder Dr. Mattie Castiel who is Worcester’s Commissioner of Health and Human Services and the Director of Operation, Jose Rivera. Dr. Luis G. Pedraja, the President of Quinsigamond Community, was recognized as well.

At the top of the first, Chris Gittens hit his tenth homer of the the season and got an RBI (Estevan Florial) to make it a 1-0, RailRiders lead.

In the bottom of the second, Josh Ockimey hit his 13th homer of the season to make it a 2-1, RailRiders game.

At the top of the fourth, Greg Allen scored to make it a 3-1, RailRiders lead.

At the top of the 6th, Rob Brantly hit his seventh homer of the season for the RailRiders and got an RBI (Chris Gittens) to make it a 5-1, RailRiders lead.

In the the last three innings here, the RailRiders had control of this game with Socrates Brito, Greg Allen, Trey Amburgey and Chris Gittens all scoring to finish this game, 9-1.
